Buccos offseason
Meek, Grilli, and Correjia are FA, and they need a catcher bad.... what'll ya think this winter?

I will go out on a limb and say they will let all free agents go, sign a few 35 year olds other teams have given up on, and find platoon players for right field and first base.

Re: Buccos offseason
wow what makes ya say that? haha. I'm pullin for an Aj Pierzynsky signing. He's a year and a half younger that Barajas, plays like Wiggington but crazier'''' one of my favorite non Pirate players...oh and if the pitchers aren't slidestepping or giving him a chance in the run game...ya may see a brawl at the mound..he takes pride in his defense. Other than that...not getting my hopes up.

Re: Buccos offseason
I wouldn't expect it to be too crazy offseason wise.
I think if any money is spent, it will be on a Pitcher.
C- The Fort will be back, I'm hoping Tony Sanchez can finally live up to being a first round pick.
1B-GI Jones and Gabby. Garrett is what he is. Lots of power, and will drive in his fair share of runs.
2B-Walker. needs to stay healthy.
3B-Pedro. His critics went down big time. Average or not....30 Homers can answer critics, has the ability to hit 40. Needs to be consistent.
SS-Barmes. He got way more criticized than he should have been. 8 hitting shortstops aren't supposed to be world beaters, I don't mind him.
CF-Cutch. Pedro gets the inconsistent card a bunch, Cutch deserves it too. He is a first half player, you are what your numbers are.
LF-Marte. I think the guy is going to be pretty good. I want to see him in this everyday role.
RF-I'm hoping Snider is healthy and gets the chances he deserves. I'm hoping Tabata doesn't play the majority here.
AJ,Wandy, Karstens, and JMac should be shoe-ins. Locke or McPhearson can battle out that #5 spot. Gerrit Cole will likely be here in June.
I think if the right deal comes along (as in a SS, Catcher, or RF) They will trade Hanrahan.
And who knows, maybe an AJ Burnett type player will fall in their laps again. Pretty favorable trade. Got a 15 game winner, and only gave up a A relief pitcher.
Huntington does a nice job finding relievers out of nowhere, one thing I give him credit for.

Re: Buccos offseason
I hope Tabata gives up the sport....I haven't detested a Bucco this much ...well possibly ever. I'd love to see Marte,Cutch Snider everyday in the outfield with Presly or Jones giving a day off here and there (when Jones isn't on 1st base anyway)...The Fort will be back, but he is not an everyday catcher, he got exposed the last month and a half when he got alot more at bats, hit like .156(that's way under what Barmes was getting killed for in April)

If we could only teach the players we have that this isn't a video game and there is no option to play a 100 game season.

Does it really make a difference? Twenty years of losing makes a person kinda give up. I say that now, but come spring training, my hopes are sky-high again.....then comes the all-star break and the cycle starts all over.

I feel the same. This past season I said this is the year, and then out of nowhere they forgot how to win. It was even more depressing than the last 19 years before that combined.BA Scorekeeper wrote:Does it really make a difference? Twenty years of losing makes a person kinda give up. Re: Buccos offseason
Could not agree more! The last two seasons have been the roughest, and especially this past year. I just can not figure out how they just fall apart. Maybe it's me, but i'd rather have a bunch of hitters who bat over .300 than one big bat in the line-up. If no one is on for the big bat, what good is he. Also, I'd rather see them spend money on good "proven" pitchers. I kmow there are some good arms coming up through the minor (got to watch some of them this year in Altoona), but there is no substitute for experence.

Re: Buccos offseason
Out:
Correia...Replaced by FA signing or McPherson
Hanrahan...Hughes can be the 8th inning guy, Grilli the closer
Barajas...Enough is enough, McHenry and a FA catcher can do no worse
TRY to sign Jones, but do not overpay because he had one career year.
TRY to get Walker signed to a reasonable extension, but do not overpay.
Send McDonald to Winter ball and/or a sports psychiatrist to straighten him out.
Gotta ride it out with Barmas.
