Mountain League Week 10

Post by jayjay6218 »

Mountain League Week 10
Well here it is the end of another great regular season full of crazy ups/downs twists and turns. Clearfield Congrats you are the 2012 Mountain League Champion, it wasn’t easy but you did it. As for the rest of the Mountain League good luck in the playoffs, if you made it, and good luck for your upcoming week which could be your last for the year (PO, Bellefonte etc…)
All joking aside here are this week’s matchups in the Mountain League:
Penns Valley @ Mt. Union
Penns Valley is coming off another beating by an improving Tyrone team and need a win and a Penn Cambria loss to hopefully squeak in to the playoffs. Although I don’t know if they will get that PC loss they need they should pick up the win against AA Mt. Union who plays a mostly A schedule.
PV – 27 MU – 6

Everett @ Central
There is going to be a bitter sweet moment in Martinsburg on Friday night. With their victory over Everett, (yeah they’re going to win, big time), they will secure their top-ish playoff spot. That being said if Cambria Heights avoids an upset it will be very possible that CH with power points could leapfrog Central and maybe force a round 1 rematch vs rival Tyrone. Yes there are other factors that could come in to play but this could happen and I do believe it is a situation that Central fans would love to avoid (at least in the 1st round).
Central – 63 Everett – 14

Phillipsburg Osceola @ Forest Hills
FH will welcome class AA PO in to Ranger’s stadium which should be a tune up post season wood shed beating for the Mounties. The Rangers have been on a roller coaster ride this year mostly because of injuries and a small turnout. That being said FH should have all cylinders turning as they welcome a dismal Mounties squad for their last game of the season. Better luck next year Mounties.
FH – 35 PO – 10

Huntingdon @ Juniata Valley
Call this my upset special, and I will crash and burn with this pick, but I am calling it. JV is looking forward to a high playoff seed and hopes to make a playoff run in the new A bracket. Huntingdon already knows this will be their last game of the season and they want another win for their first year head coach. Huntingdon will not hold back and will win this one in a close one.
Huntingdon – 20 JV – 18

Bellefonte @ St. Marys
St. Marys runs the Wing T offense. They run the ball, a lot. In fact they use to have their basic formations and run plays listed on their website (they may still be there for all I know). Bellefonte, well Bellefonte has tried to run 3 different offenses in the last three years and so far, not so good. St. Marys will run all over Bellefonte.
St. Marys – 33 Bellefonte – 10

Clearfield @ Bradford
This game is simple; Clearfield led by their man-child QB Lezzer continues to roll.
Clearfield – 42 Bradford – 7

Tyrone @ Greater Johnstown
Tyrone secured their playoff contention, but not their seeding with last week’s romp over Penns Valley. Surprisingly enough they did not utilize All Everything Jr RB James Oliver, who was held to a season low ~56 yards. They did utilize a passing attack that has been dormant over the last 9 weeks which they will need to continue if they wish to make a playoff run. Johnstown is young, and have been decimated by injury. This being said as long as Tyrone continues to feed their Monster RB, plays tough defense, and tries to assert more balance on offense I see them winning this game with ease in the second half.
Tyrone – 34 J-town – 14

Game of the Week
Bald Eagle Area @ Ligonier Valley
Playoffs start this week for both teams. A win for BEA would clinch a playoff berth, while a win for LV could mean a top playoff seed and a possible home game. This game is going to be a close one, as both teams live and die by the running game. LV is probably considered the slight favorite but I am going to have to take BEA in the slight upset.
BEA – 21 LV – 14

JJ...Tyrone's passing game isn't a juggernaut, but it's been seen in the last 9 weeks..matter of fact they threw for 140+ 3 times, and when you are up 30-50 pts at halftime it is hard to throw much...Granted Wagner hasn't been turning heads(2 previous games 3-16 passing), but they were his worst games of the year,Oliver just garners more attention.
