6) Bishop McCort
7) Central Cambria
8) Cambria Heights
9) Bishop Carroll
10) Somerset
11) Bedford
12) Johnstown

Mountain League

1) Bald Eagle
2) Clearfield
3) Tyrone
4) Huntingdon
5) Central

Allow me to disagree with your LHAC # 1 & 2.

I'd pick the Lady Rangers as well.

LHAC

Richland looks to be better than Forest Hills at this early date. I still think BG is team to beat but Richland already beat FH by double digits at FH and could give BG a game. Westmont looks good. Another team that has caught my eye is Central Cambria. Red Devils won't be a push over. I thought Penn Cambria would be better but has gotten off to slow start.

LHAC

1) BG
2) FH
3) Richland
4) Westmont
5) Penn Cambria
6) Bishop McCort
7) Central Cambria
8) Cambria Heights
9) Bishop Carroll
10) Somerset
11) Bedford
12) Johnstown

Mountain League

Looks like BEA and Tyrone are the top two teams early on. Clearfield without 6-3 center for much of the beginning of the season but even with her return I'm not sure they will be a threat to top two. Many of these teams seem close and could jump up and beat anyone except maybe Bellefonte. Clearfield, Huntingdon, PV and Central all very close. Central has beaten both Clearfield and PV on the road so they are showing signs of maybe being better than I originally thought. BEA, Tyrone and Clearfield all dominated by seniors. Other teams are pretty young.

Mountain League

1) Bald Eagle
2) Clearfield
3) Tyrone
4) Huntingdon
5) Central
6) Penns Valley
7) Bellefonte
8) Philipsburg

First year head coach Mike Urban is doing a phenomenal job with the Richland girls team. The young lady from Richland who just scored her 1000th point gave him a great compliment in the paper the other day about how he has taught the players to understand the game this year. I think the game between Richland and Westmont on Jan 6th will be an interesting one. New first year high school coach with a very limited roster vs. seasoned, experienced high school coach who has taken teams to state finals.

Blairsville will play in western final depending on the bracket. I was wondering if their high school coach is the same guy who coaches them in AAU ball? Very nice team.

Isn't the new Blairsville coach the old Richland coach, McGinnis?

Anyway, Blairsville has a lot of talented soph's compared with the freshmen that lost to richland in the d6 semis last year before beating westmont in the d6 consy's. Will be interesting to see if Bobcats play Richland, the coach's former team in the d6 playoffs. Right now those look like the two top teams in d6AA. Not for sure if anyone else will be on the same level as those two (BG is Single A and Forest Hills is AAA).

It's good to see Blairsville going to Upper St. Clair tournament and then Philly Christmas tournament although first opponent in Philly North Penn tourney doesn't look that great; I imagine second game will be a lot tougher. It always seems like the girls teams from around here know how to schedule when they get a "dream" group (thinking westmont, mccort, bg, northern cambria in the past several years) while the boys teams struggle with that.

Mike is not in his first year of being a head coach he had two years at Ferndale first going 12-30 for those two years. Ferndale is really struggling this year . Nice job at Richland winning the big game when he had too. Richland has a very seasoned roster going for him with 4 key starters playing AAU ball for over four years. The remaining schedule favors Richland with only three real tests two with Westmont and one with BG. The remaining is just too soft to worry about for this team.

Forest Hills while still a very good team this year appears to be just a little weaker than last year team, time will tell though but a win is a win and Richland gets the nod though of course it doesn't matter since Richland is AA.

AA girls just may come down to Richland and Blairsville though I'm sure Westmont will look to challenge but the post area is hurting them still. Blairsville appears to hold an offensive edge by being able to put up 10 more points a game than Richland. With that said at this point in time I would say 1.) Richland 2.) Blairsville and in a distance 3.) Westmont.

Single A you have to like what the Portage girls were able to do, they beat Conemaugh Township. This was one of those hurdles this team could not get over the last to years. I call this a big win for Portage in fact the biggest of the season. Sure BG will be a factor and maybe the team to beat but with Portages signature win over CT I will not rule them out. My hat off to the Portage girls that had to be a great feeling. Most importantly they know their season is just starting.

AAA what can I say I still like FH and Carol even with their two early losses.

PC has to be disappointed with their start, they have been soundly beaten by Portage, Richland and Westmont.

A) BG. No doubt
AA) blairsville and Richland
AAA) Forrest hills

District 6 might be the best girls district out there next to the wpial giant. Guys basketball is just nowhere near the level it should be. Maybe has something with the football craze.
