Better than Tyler Boyd?
Better than Tyler Boyd?
Anyone who saw the game last night, is there a player that you have seen who you thought was better than Tyler Boyd?
I thought Deshawn Coleman from Hickory was special and Boyd is definitely better.
I thought Boyd was better than Larod.
anyone who might have seen Prior play at Jeanette, your thoughts.

Re: Better than Tyler Boyd?
Hard to compare Pryor to a Running Back, but the guy was truly a specimen for a High School player. I mean there was a reason he was the #1 player in the country. Boyd is a great player in his own right though. But the rankings can't be ignored. If you watched Pryor play, he was near impossible to stop. 6-6 220 and could run like a gazelle, it was a sight to see a 6-6 guy burn everyone on the field effortlessly.
Its tough to say who was better between him and LaRod, because LaRod was pretty special in High School. But Boyd has an electrifying aspect to his game..
I saw he took on some criticism for maybe running out of bounds a couple of times last night, and that he wasn't "Penn State" material. Give me a break, Penn State isn't exactly in a position to turn down anyone with talent LOL. And he will play receiver in college, and will do very well. I trust the offers from Ohio State, Notre Dame, and WVU over the opinion of someone on this site.
And as someone pointed out, you never know if an injury is coming your way. Why take a hit if you don't have to. It's not like he is Rushel Shell, he's a slot receiver playing RB in high school.

Pryor was unreal.
The guy that blew me away was Noah Spence (Ohio State). As a junior he looked like an NFL player. By far he was the most amazing specimen I've seen on a high school field.
Larod.. I saw him once. 5 or 6 carries for 5 Td's vs Central at Roaring Spring in the first 12-15 minutes.

Re: Better than Tyler Boyd?
Some guys I saw play live:
Ryan Mundy (WoodyHi, Michigan, now Steelers) was an unbelievable picture of physicality, he looked like he was 25 years old in HS. Same with JP Holtz (Shaler, now starting TE for Pitt). Both were absolute men among boys in HS. I also saw Frank Wycheck play when I lived near Philly, Holtz reminds me a lot of him.
Steve Breaston (WoodyHi, Michigan, now NFL Cardinals) was perhaps the most electrifying HS player I have ever seen play live. When he was a soph, he was about 6'1" maybe 155 lbs and played QB...I saw him run about 120 yards with 4-5 cuts across the field to score on a 30 yard TD run. He had a great career at Woody High. I knew he'd be an outstanding WR and KR and play at the next level.
Ron Powlus (Berwick/Notre Dame) was such a phenomenal HS QB.
Darelle Revis (Quippa, Pitt, NY Jets) was incredible on the football field, what he did in the PIAA AA final his senior season was stuff of legend (scored 5 TDs 5 differemt ways IIRC...rush, reception, pass, punt return, and int return).
Shady McCoy was special for McDevitt out of Harrisburg, and everyone offered him, but a severe ankle injury limited his senior season.
LaVar Arrington (North Hills, PSU, NFL Redskins) was just a fantastic player in HS, but also a pretty good hooper. I watched him drop kick a basketball and hit the ceiling after a close loss his senior season.
Pryor was ridiculous athletically, but remember: He played class AA football. No way would he have done what he did had he played in AAAA.

Re: Better than Tyler Boyd?
Titan... Prior did what he did in high school while at OSU at times. He would have done great at AAAA too.

I'm under the belief, if you can get offers from every school in America or be the best cornerback in the NFL, it doesn't matter that they went to a AA school....They can play. Pryor made things look easy in AA, he would have had to work harder in AAAA. But he would have been pretty effective, might have won Shaler a few more games lol.

Re: Better than Tyler Boyd?
I agree coach, he would have done well in AAAA too...I am confident though that Pryor would not have racked up such ridiculous numbers in AAAA. The difference between AA and AAAA is that virtually any kid on a AAAA two deep would start at a given AA school, while only a handful of kids on a given AA's starting 22 would make the two deep at a AAAA.
Jesse James played for South Allegheny, not for South Fayette. He was a big kid in HS, pretty soft and played for teams that were not very good though. He will help at PSU.

Btw, it's hilarious that folks believe Aliquippa or Clairton could beat Noth Allegheny.
NA beats Clairton by 5-6, maybe 7TDs, Quippa by 4-5 TDs.
The difference would be that NA would absolutely brutalize both teams up front.
