Bob Palko's quote in Pittsburgh Post Gazette
Coach of West Allegheny was quoted in the paper after his team lost to Erie Cathedral Prep...
"They had a better recruiting year than Pitt, what can I tell you."
Yikes. I'm by no means a proponent of the private school system in regards to athletics but does the WPIAL ever lose because they are not the better team?
It seems it is always because of a call, or recruiting, etc, etc.

People can complain about recruiting with d6 but not wpial? There should be no complaints anywhere
Re: Bob Palko's quote in Pittsburgh Post Gazette
I think he is still upset about Tyler's NFL career
"In the December 11 game against the New York Jets, Palko only had 4 yards of total offense and one first down in the first half, completing 3 of 8 passes for 11 yards and one interception as the Jets jumped to a 28-3 lead"
I still remember him being on the Pitt sideline when Tyler played there, so maybe he knows something about Pitt recruiting. LOL

Re: Bob Palko's quote in Pittsburgh Post Gazette
Remember when Tyrone beat the Quips last year the Tribune Review kept talking about the Aliquippa being "ruled" short, different wording then being stopped short.
Not to mention there is evidence of him being stuffed well short of the line.
But Pittsburgh papers and media often have to come up with a reason as to why they lost, it happens every time.

I respect Bob Palko but he's wrong here.
Re: Bob Palko's quote in Pittsburgh Post Gazette
Did he happen to mention if West Allegheny is the best public school in the District, I think that sometimes that helps ease the pain.
Re: Bob Palko's quote in Pittsburgh Post Gazette
Funny enough, when referring to WPIAL public schools that recruit. WA is one of them. lol
Re: Bob Palko's quote in Pittsburgh Post Gazette
Public vs Private - The debate that will never end. In the end it isn't a fair playing field no matter what people say because the rules are different. A public accepts everyone and has to count home schooled and cyber schooled kids on their enrollment. A private school doesn't have geographical boundaries and has the ability to attract kids. I don't know how many recruit but they do attract. If I know I could go there and compete for district and state titles or I can go to a public school that wins 0-5 games I know where I'd want to play.

I gotta give the guy respect. At least he speaks what is on his mind and doesn't beat around the bush. He actually is only repeating what the arch diocese in pittsburgh said a few short years ago!
Re: Bob Palko's quote in Pittsburgh Post Gazette
Transferring for athletic reasons is against the rules no matter how much you want to. Stealing a Snickers bar from Sheetz is agasint the rules too, no matter how much you want one. That's just the way it is. The problem is, no one enforces the rules on transferring.
