University of Pitt-Stop?

Post by KirkHerbstreit »

Brett Bielema was just hired as Arkansas new football coach. Do Pitt fans think Chryst is offered the Wisconsin job? Do you think he stays or goes if offered? I'm going to say Wisconsin goes after him, but he stays at Pitt(unless he is from that area which i don't know).

According the radio show I was listening to today:

-He is from the Wisconsin area.
-He has been attending Badger games since 5 years old.
-He has been an assistant at Wisconsin since the Alvarez days. (Who is now the AD)
-It has always been thought that he considered Wisconsin his dream job.

Now how much of this is fact, I don't know. If I were a Pitt fan, I would be very concerned.

All of that is true.

And I'm very concerned. Talk about bad luck.

I had to guy buy a membership for the Pantherlair premium board out of curiosity and to keep sanity.

Generally, I think he is staying. Multiple recruits have come out and said something like Paul Chryst will be MY coach at PITT.

I don't think Wisconsin will offer him the job. If they did, he'd be gone. I think Chryst is one of those guys who is a better coordinator than he is a head coach. If you have heard him during press conferences, you would know what I mean. Not a good Public speaker and doesn't seem like the type you would run thru a bring wall for(or youngstown state for that matter) He might be good for Pitt, but I think Wisconsin knows his flaws and will look elsewhere.

Barry Alvarez went out of his way to talk to the higher ups of Pitt and help get Chryst the job. I'm sure he did all of that with the expectation of his own Head Coach not leaving to be Alabama's doormat for the next 4 years.

I think Chryst will be a fine head coach, not going to dismiss him for a 6-6 record with an average group, or that he isn't a charismatic speaker.
The guy knows football.

If no statement is made by tomorrow, I'd start to worry if I'm a Pitt fan. I don't think it's important to keep him from a Pitt perspective because he's a good coach. I think it's more important for stability. Either way Pantherlair should be quite comical to read.

Why would he release a statement? He wasn't offered any job.

It does not matter if he was offered a job. It stops recruits and fans from going into panic mode and sends a message that he is dedicated to the university.
