Saturday State Quarterfinal Scores
Halftime: S.Fulton Girls 28 Lourdes Regional 18 S.Fulton trying to be the first District 5 girls team since Audrey Hall's McConnellsburg team to get to the state finals and looks like they are in a good spot at this point to get to the eastern finals.

That would be great for Southern Fulton. If they win today, they will be huge underdogs vs either Tri-Valley or Steel High in the next round but you never know with sports, especially high school. Those two teams are much better than the one's they played so far and are the favorites to win the state title (you have to think though that BG or Vincentian from the western side will have a legit shot though).
BG is only up 2 on Clarion at the half.

All the sideline reporters gushing about how great Kovalchick is during the BG-Clarion girls quarterfinal.
Any chance they would play the state championships there in near future? That would be awesome. Seems like a premier facility that isn't monstrous like BJC. Perfect for major high school game. Not for sure about parking, hotels, etc. And of course the eastern side would never want the game to switch from east-central location to west-central location...

bg tied at 31 with clarion in 4th
winner of that game will most likely play vincentian, who is up on kennedy catholic by 12 heading into 4th.

No way IUP would get state championships. The way the higher classes are set up you would be looking at a Chester vs Lower Merion title game on the other end of the state. The Petersen Events Center is another nice location locally, but the location is bad because ita so far away for Eastern teams Hershey is a good central location and the Giant Center is a nice facility.

I know the Pete has put in a bid before. But it doesn't make sense. IUP sounds like an outstanding facility a well, but logistically it wouldn't make sense.

Re: Saturday State Quarterfinal Scores
Crimson, I agree with you that it's not going to happen.
However, I wouldn't rule out a location around Johnstown-Indiana-Altoona for a state championship. Doesn't Altoona have baseball championships already? Places like Shippensburg and York have their fair shape of championships and they are not near center of state.
I think the main thing in basketball is the point you brought up: two Philly teams playing on the western side of the state for a state championship?!? So until the western side of the state becomes better (if ever), I think basketball championships will be shifted to the east (a lot of contention from the east about BJC and it is in exact center). Down the road, though, I wouldn'r rule out a revolving system where one year the championships were held on western side and then flipped the next year.
BG girls defeat Clarion by 10, 45-35, to advance to final four. Surprised that game was as close as it was. So of the final four in A, two of the teams are from d5/6.
