Heritage Conference Regular Season Wrap up

Post by konjo78 »

This year was probably one of the most exciting ones in recent memory for this conference. Between suprises, upsets, injuries and struggles i feel this will be known as the most volitile year. Homer Center won the Prize and now 4 teams will look to go to the playoffs. Right now i'll go over nominees for a few positions.

Game of the Year:

* Northern Cambria vs Penns Manor - This game started off the year right, it ended with a failed 2pt conversion at the 1yrd line for the colts and started what was an unbelievable season for in conference games.

* Penns Manor vs Ligonier - This game down to one second left. They is lots of reasons why penns manor shouldn't of won but the game is over and was very entertaining to watch and listen too.

* Northern Cambria vs Ligonier - This game gave reason to believe in the team from Northern Cambria. They fough hard and came back to stun the rams for their 3rd of 4 straight loses. In the end Northern did not make the playoffs but this game only was more interesting because the colts still had a chance.

Offensive Player of the Year -

* Ean Lee - Lee was the big play back this year for the champion wildcats. He ran for over 1000 yards for the season and led the wildcats on big 4th quarter drives against LV and HC

* Alec Bloom - The tall 6-7 Wr/Te from Ligonier did all he could to give the rams a heritage title. He made catch after catch during the penns manor game. Double coverage didn't matter a lot for bloom.

* Deon Robinson - He was the core for bobcats teams. He is probably the best true runningback in the conference running for I believe over 1000 yards.

Top Defensive player of the Year

* Steven Dumn - He was one of the core players for the comets defense. Constantly plugging holes he led the defense to a that went 9-1

* Mike Newhouse - He recovered fumbles. he clogged up holes. he was the key behind this defense that did so well all year long.

* Luke Ruddock - This defensive linemen had by far his best year this year. He was consistently in the backfield wrecking plays are is one of the major factors for the Comets.

Coach of the Year

* Bill Packer - This year was believed to be .500 at best for the comets but with great coaching and good talent the comets were able to make it a 9-1 season just like last year.

* Greg Page - Being a favorite is one thing preseason. living up to it is another but Page had his young men ready for battle all year in heritage play. Leading them to a Heritage Conference title.

* Brandon Overdorff - Purhcase Line quietly made their way to a .500 season. No they didn't ruffle any feathers with big upsets but they did end up having more success than believe be. They are a team on the right track and I feel this coach has the Dragons believing they can win any given friday again.

If you have any other Nominees just list below and I'll have the official vote on Bleachercoaches next week!

Konjo. I think Lucas Kowalski. Took over for the best player in PM history when people said PM was done. At last weeks game he went over 1000 yards rushing, led the conference with 120 pts, and completed more touchdown passes than Ferrens.

I'd put bloom in front of Lee he did things that no one else in the conference could do no one could really stop him.

Hype usually doesn't end up being most entertaining game. But i will be happy to put it on the voting list for next week.

Bloom is definitely O player of the year...he was open when he broke the huddle...size, speed and very athletic...I wouldn't hesitate to put Syster from PL ahead of Lee too...he is a junior like Lee and is bigger, stronger and pretty fast...those two will be very tough next year....Ruddock and Stupic on D for me...Dumm was good, but really benefitted from those 2 big guys up front...

Fennell from Liggy could easily be the Offensive player of the year too...2200 yds of total offense and 26 total td's according to maxpreps...no one else is even close to those numbers...

Offensive player of the year is a tough one this year, you have Fennell from Ligonier and Bloom along with Kowalski from Pm. Lee also did well. I'm probably forgetting someone as well.

Defensive players are Newhouse and Ruddock

Coaches Greg Page for winning the conference and Bill Packer without a doubt the best two in the conference.

Most improved team goes to pl dragons
