MLB, NBA and NHL play way too many games in regular season

Post by konjo78 »

Does anyone else feel the same way about this? I just find it hard to really get into a regular season when there are so many games to be played. It makes the first part of the season meaningless, the middle part boring and the end the wah the whole season should be. I personally feel they all should at least cut the amount of games in half for each league. 60+ games are just way too much.

AGREED! It is about the money. This is why I like college football without a big playoff. Make the season mean something!

Great post Konjo, I totally agree. Last year the NHL season was shortened to 48 games to a lockout. It was the best hockey I have seen in a longtime. The players were more urgent, teams were fighting each and every game to get wins, and what did it entail? Here's a stat to look at: the top 10 scorers were all at a point per game. This year there were barely 5 players at a point per game, and most that were, just barely made it.thats a kind of picky star but I think if you look deeper it shows that the players were more urgent in their play which led to more goals scored. The season was condensed and they had to make a timeframe, imagine if they stretched 48 games from Oct. to April?! It would be great! More rest for players and better hockey.

I really don't know how anyone can closely follow more than one of those sports. It's even hard for me to follow one.

And it looks like the NFL is going to extend its season soon.

hockey was as it's best last year with the half season.

I personally like the journey and length of baseball. It bridges the gap between college basketball to college football very nicely.

I am on the other side of the coin on this one. For me, I completely lose interest when my team doesn't make the playoffs. Now that the Wizards are done, will I be watching the NBA every night. No. I just check the score every now and then and hope like hell the Heat get bounced. Same goes for the MLB, I watch my team every game of the regular season, but if the O's don't make the playoffs, I do not watch. So I like a long regular season. College sports suck in my book. Honor the kids' scholarships when they aren't playing football and basketball and maybe I'll change my tune.
