thats a good question....but not necessarily a fair one. you cant gauge how hard someone works by results. its easy to say that the best teams work the hardest, but usually the best teams have the best natural talent as well, so they dont have to work as hard as some to just be mediocre. to honestly answer this question, you dhave to sit and watch how hard each team practices.....and how that relates to performance on the mat. so i, or anyone, couldnt truly answer that question with any true merit.

I'm probably going to catch a lot of heat over this...but in my opinion Marco is not a great coach as a matter of fact he isn't even a good coach.....take a look at the teams he has had over the past few years....hell my gradmother (LOL and she never wrestled a day in her life) could have coached at Claysburg a won 100 matches.

How did he get all those good kids? Guys like McIntyre didn't even start wrestling til JH. I know some of those kids too, they weren't always good, someone helped them get to where they are now!

I just don't see how you can even say this...do the kids make themselves good???

Coach....that post was nothing against Marko....I don't even know the man but....most of the young men he has coached had already proven themselves in the elementary ad JH programs. "I know there are people out there who say elementary and JR high mean nothing but in wrestling I think it does"...Sure McIntyre didn't start wrestling until Jr High but when you have workout partners like he has had the past several year your bound to become a good wrestler. I'm calling them like I see them. When Marko does something with a team of no names...he'll earn my respect.

no offense old school, but you have no idea what you are talking about at all. no names? how's this,

bobby ciaverella never started wrestling until jr. high and only won 1 or 2 matches there if any. bobby has 18 wins this year so far.
jeremy knott never started wrestling until half way thru 8th grade and is now closing in on 100 wins in high school and is 26-2 this year.
ryan mcintyre started in 6th grade and is now closing in on 100 wins.
dolan mosser never wrestled until jr. high and is an up and comer.
levi love started wrestling in 9th grade and placed at tri-counties this year.
tony paris never went to elementary states and is now 23-4
want some from the loaded teams that won districts a few years ago?
thad benton placed in elementary once, he was a 3 time state placer in high school.
ryan ickes never placed at elementary states, was a regional champ, 2 time state qualifier and state placer in high school
chris musselman, i think, never placed at elementary states, placed 2nd at states twice in high school.
matt benton never won a match at regionals until his senior year when he came to claysburg, when he placed 2nd in the state. and don't think there aren't more great stories like joe delozier, matt sell, josh delozier, mark paris and jake ebersole.

claysburg has done a fine job of developing it's wrestlers no matter where they start and has had great success. especially considering we are by far the smallest school in district 6! 8 straight years with our worst year being 10-5 is more than just one good class of wrestlers. it's a growing dynasty.

bulldog....

as for matt benton....a contributing factor that he went as far as he did was because of the workout partner he had in Tipton.

which would lend to what old school is saying about the competition in the room making the wrestlers better.
