Early Season Surprises,Disappointments and Opportunities

Post by TAHS92Alum »

Surprise
I was definitely surprised by the bias shown by the new editor of the Pa Football news website. Apparently only D7 and eastern pa plays good football in this state.
Surprised that we are on week 3
Surprised that I listened to fans put down players. Those who have played would never put them down, they know the dedication and sacrifice that these kids make to entertain us on a Friday.

Disappointment
Disappointed that the Catholic, Charter and Prep schools can continue to recruit and participate in the public sector
Disappointed that the PIAA went to the highest bidder and went away from a great Wilson football
Disappointed that a program like Clairton feels they need to beat anyone by 87 points

Opportunities taken
United breaks a 21 game losing streak

Nice. Couple points I'd like to go along with. The suprise about people getting on their own kids. I expect it any more (just today's disgusting society) I actually missed the best ending to the best "brawl" in years because of those people and my not wanting to call someone for bail money.
And Spot on with Clairton. They may feel put out by the WPIAL realignment. (Jeanette and GCCboth added to the bears conference ) but pulling a Switzer on everyone else is just putting them on a boat by themselves. They won't be putting any 20+win streaks anymore

For 87 you really have to work at it. Once the mercy rule kicks in a game really moves along.

For me it's awesome that BG's group is winning. Those same senior boys took a beatin four years ago and stuck with the team. Coach Wheeler has down a great job and not 1 player on that team every played a down of varsity football at any other school.

Also seeing Berlin doing well. Coach Paul is a great football mind and the players love him.

Finally disappointed to see so many injuries last week. On that list is a couple premiere players in the area. Donoughe, Updyke and RB for Johnstown???

Didn't United beat one of those Catholic schools that can continue to recruit and participate in the public sector?

It does not look good for Terrell Jones from what I am hearing. His junior season could be over. It's a shame, he's been starting since he was in 9th grade, but it seemed this year they had the balance on O and a good line, and he would've been due for a big year. He's also a kid I thought had a chance to get some D1 offers, hopefully he can rebound quickly and still get those opportunities.
