Re: Hey ref meet me in the parking lot after the game
Thanks for posting, I was going to post this. It can also go under football...fans need to understand these guys aren't being paid millions to babysit their kids....they can always join the ranks if they feel the current refs are doing a poor job. It also always cracks me up when people say the refs are biased towards another team or jobbed theirs...they really don't care.

I passed the test to be an basketball official, but seeing what they have to deal with I can't do it. I know when I played I blocked out the crowd noise, but I don't know if I could do that as a offical.

Referees have a tough job to do and it doesn’t make it an easier when the PIAA changes rules every year and makes it more difficult to enforce. Instead of worrying about if the team has matching wrist bands or under shirts more focus should be on the game and the way it is being played. There were some questionable calls in the BC game I attended last week and yes officials have a tough job to do but let’s consider the time the coaches and the players put into the game. Also let’s think about the time the parents commit to driving their child around from practice and games.
I feel for the consistent good officials, but I truly believe officials are people to and people tend to take things personally and could play a part when officiating a game.

wait -- you mean to say, even the privates schools have fans that complain about officiating too??? sounds like justification to go get a few more players to make the officiating not determine the outcomes of games

We don’t make the rules nor do we want to we just follow them. If the rules allow parents and kids to choose another school then it is what it is. No need to make smirky remarks about private schools when they are just abiding by the rules set in place by the PIAA. If you have a problem take it up with the rule makers not the schools. #jealousy is the greatest form of flattery.d6footballfan wrote:wait -- you mean to say, even the privates schools have fans that complain about officiating too??? sounds like justification to go get a few more players to make the officiating not determine the outcomes of games

Also Private schools do not have district lines which means kids and parents have to want to come to the school. So my question to you would be what is going on at your PUBLIC school that makes kids want to leave???? #If you can’t beat’em, join’em.

http://www.piaa.org/schools/eligibility/
Transfers
You are treated as having transferred whenever you seek eligibility to participate in interscholastic athletics at a school other than the one at which you were previously either enrolled or otherwise eligible. You are considered to have transferred even if you are promoted to a higher level school or are out-of-school for a period of time before entering the new school. If your Transfer from one school to another is materially motivated in some way by an athletic purpose, you will lose your athletic eligibility in each sport in which you participate within a period of one year immediately following the date on which you transferred. This requirement applies even if you would be otherwise eligible at the school to which you transferred. If your school eliminates a sport for budgetary reasons, you may be permitted to Transfer to another school to participate in that sport. You must enroll and attend the other school. If you desire to participate in any other sports at that school, your PIAA District Committee will assess whether the Transfer was materially motivated in some way by an athletic purpose relating to those sports.
Prophet. If you read the post on the BM Football Coach (Hawkins) you will see the post about the kids that it would bring to BM TO PLAY FOOTBALL!!!! That is against the PIAA Rules. Recruiting happens all the time. You can deny it but you are just fooling yourself if you deny it. I wouldn't have a problem with it, IF they played up a class or two. Notice the big if.
You're only young once, but you can be immature forever!!!

I was being sarcastic towards parents. When games between public versus private don't get called as "I" see it should have been, then "I" get singled out as a crybaby, sore loser, etc. Just calling it both ways like an impartial official should prophet. get it?

Congratulation for being impartial I will send your 8th place ribbon in the mail. Wasn’t the thread supposed to be about referee’s? What impartial person turned this into Private vs Public?d6footballfan wrote:I was being sarcastic towards parents.
