thanks for the posting Crimson...
on another note, and I know the PIAA policy for first round games very well, I think it is absolutely assinine the way they make some of these teams travel for a first round game.  They have their policies, but that doesn't mean they make any sense.
Look at Northern Bedford, who has to go to Muncy, 2 and a half hours away, on a weeknight.  They claim to make decisions about kids and schools, but some defy logic.  Their only saving grace on some of the other sites is that it is the weekend when these teams/people will be traveling.

The Muncy/Northern Bedford thing is a unique situation, I understand why they did what they did. My guess is that the two Districts agreed to it. So next year this game will be held at a District 5 venue.

I get why they did it too, don't want to leave out a bid. That's another story too, it is so watered down with 6 classes now. They could have made that game in between....Hell they have matchups where 2 district runner ups are playing, and one travels five minutes and the other possibly 2 hours.

Yeah State College girls getting a "home" game with a losing record in a district with 3 schools seems generous.

The two districts did agree. They were each tied to get a third team in. That means one district gets the the #3 in one year of the cycle and the other the next. The districts got together and agreed to play a play in game both years. As previously shared, one year they host and the next year the other. Good for kids in terms of play time and experience. Get some more experience and make some memories.

How is a 23-1 team in 4th place?

Because the WPIAL is inept at how they handle their brackets.  Every other district in the state plays out every seed, but the WPIAL does not.  The championship decides the whole thing.  So whoever wins the championship, the team they beat in the prior round becomes the three seed. Whoever they beat in the quarterfinal round becomes the five seed.

It's a bizarre way to determine things.

So the 24-1 team obviously got upset in the semifinals, and the team that beat them lost in the championship.  That makes them the four seed.

It's really dumb, and they've had teams sitting around for over a week not knowing if they'd make the tournament. Having a consolation tournament keeps the teams playing at the very least.  It has to be awkward to take a 2 week break in between your last loss and your first state playoff game.

They were knocked off in the semis by Neshannock for their first loss of the season. They also didn't play any of the other teams that are seeded 1 thru 5 out of D7.
