Asking the question

Post by Manfred »

OK, another football season is here. in a little over 2 months it will be playoffs, controlled by the notorious PIAA. Has there been any movement on ELIMINATING having to buy all tickets online? Covid is long over, and most schools previously used in-house personnel to sell tix. But greed took over, and a certain 3rd party entity has managed to wangle a nice slice of the pie that the consumer has to fork out for every game. Opinions, anyone? For my $ it just plain sux.

When I remember to do it beforehand, save it to my apple wallet, and there is good service at the venue it’s not an inconvenience and I don’t mind it. Buttttttttt, about 50% of the time one of those factors is not good it is the biggest headache and I have considered turning around and going home before.

From people I’ve talked to the only reason they still use this is because it takes away a bunch of legwork from the PIAA having to collect money and make deposits. Now it’s streamlined like it is for a business that accepts credit/debit cards. Monday morning all the money is in the appropriate accounts and life is easy.

Another one of the long list of things in life that government entities or big corporations have instituted that are minor inconveniences to us but make their jobs (and overhead) better.

Unfortunately it uses the success of our students to make money for a ticketing agency....I would rather the money go to pay the extra ticket seller etc...

In review: The Altoona Mirror reported a couple days ago that as part of the state budget bill that PASSED, the PIAA can no longer force disenfranchised fans to have to buy admission tickets from online sources. THANK YOU to state Rep. Dan Moul (R) from Adams County. (hand clap emoji x 10)
