Notice that Ohio, a state smaller than PA has 6 classes and championships in football, PA still has four. Heck Maryland has 4 and their half the size of PA!
The PIAA is just so on the cutting edge of scholastic sports its frightening.

Would be nice to have 6 classifications for PA!! They can surely do this. I think it would in the best interest to do so!!

That's the problem Holly, the vast majority of people would support it. Its a no brainer. It makes too much sense so the PIAA won't do it. They are as pathetic as the UN.

Hershey's attendance #'s won't match Ohio's . The largest crowd to see a PIAA title game was officially just over 8,000, and that was the 1999 AA game between Tyrone/MCA. With the weather being as bad as it is supposed to be, and PCN broadcasting it statewide, I don't expect this week's games to draw even half of that total for Ohio.

As long as Wally Blucas (District 10) is the PIAA president the Piaa will not go to six classifications for football. The districts have decided, not the PIAA administration to stay at four classes. So before everyone trys to blame the powers that be for another percieved wrong make sure that you have all the facts and are blaming the right people. The move to six classes for football is still not going to help the small school, it will help the large AA and small AAA schools. The other group it will help is the small (compared to other) AAAA school. The state has a formula that it uses for all sports and it would have to develop another formula to break football into six classes. Mr Blucas has stated that it wouldn't be fair to treat football differently than the other sports (and he has a valid point). The PIAA administration has taken heat for many things and some of it is valid however in this situation the facts show that they aren't the problem.
