Plaxico -- Just Go

Post by foghorn »

Well, that does it for me. After his Randy Moss type comments the other night, the Steelers can send this bum packing. He doesn't deserve to be on the same field with the great Hines Ward anyway. You'd think he would have learned some class and humility playing alongside HW, but it didn't take.

I agree with you foghorn. I was hoping he would come around. Because we could definately use him. But chemistry is also very important and I don't think he is that much of an asset in the locker room.

You're gonna hate him even more when he's smoking that Pittsburgh secondary in a Ravens uniform. Face it: you can play on a good team all you want, but sooner or later you're gonna get tired of not being used properly. Bill Cowher has arguably the best receiving corps in the NFL and refuses to be a passing team and utilize them properly. Burress is making the right decision. He's getting out while he still has a chance to be a huge star and he's still young. Pittsburgh will not make the playoffs in 2005, you heard it here first.

I think it sucks that plaxico is leaving i mean he has a ton of talent but his attitude sucks. Im probably the only person in bedford county with his jersey and probably the only person in bedford county that likes plaxico more than hines ward. Hines ward is a better WR by far but i just like to be different and like the one that no one else likes. I think its going to hurt the steelers offense just b/c when the other teams matched up against plaxico with one of there players there was always a height difference. And after tommy maddox got hurt ben threw to burress more and i think it opened up the other WR's. But its not going to be pretty when burress is playing against the steelers awesome secondary b/c we all saw how good they were when brady threw the long ball against us.

i agree with tojo. he prob is the only person in bedford county with a plex jersey. but i think that they should keep him because as soon as he leaves pittsburgh he will make the steelers secondary look like a bunch of idiots. Hey but who hasnt?

There is not one thing that Burress said that can be taken as "his attitude sucks". The guy wants to play for a team who throws the ball more. He was told that he would be a bigger part of the offense. Was he? No, he wasn't. So he wants to go someplace else. That is NOT him having a bad attitude. He played 5 seasons with Pittsburgh and they never used him the way he should have been used. You have Randle-El, Ward, and Burress, and they continue to give the ball to the running backs. It spoke volumes when Cowher dove Bettis into the pile on that 4th down whenever everyone in the solar system knew he was getting the ball. So the Pats blitzed the holes and you saw exactly what happened, and you saw exactly what happened on the next play when Brady threw a 900 yard TD pass. Why not run a play action? How about a QB rollout keeper? Classifying yourself into categories, which Cowher constantly does and continues to get burned for it, is what kills Pittsburgh. PASS THE FOOTBALL IF YOU TELL BURRESS HE'S SO GOOD AND TALK ABOUT WARD BEING THE GREATEST PLAYER IN THE NFL.

You may be right to a certain extent. I guess I can understand where Plex is coming from. However, I think he is really Ben's favorite target and will be a bigger focus in the future if he stays. You have to remember he missed like six games this year which makes it hard to make him the go to guy. As far as running the ball to much we saw what happened when pitts. got pass happy the past 2 years with maddox. THEY SUCKED!!! You have to run the ball, control the clock and play good defense.

TOJO, I know for a fact that you are not the only one in Bedford County with a Burress jersey...

Plex has never done anything bad for the Steelers, said anything bad, or acted poorly in any way. He has sat back and listened to the coaches tell him he is going to get the ball more year after year after year, and he has never received the opportunity to become what they have promised. You would be angry also if you were in his position. Like someone promising you a raise for 3 years and never getting what you have been promised, I'd bet you want to change locations too. Would've a Superbowl made him happy, probably not, he would have a ring that he felt he was not a big enough part of. Had they won last week and won in two weeks he would still feel the same. Now he wants to go somewhere where he feels he is of value to the team, and collect big time on this opportunity. Money talks, and he wants at least a 10 mil signing bonus, and we all know that he isn't coming anywhere close to that in Pittsburgh. With him leaving, maybe the Steelers will find a way to keep K. Bell on the team. It might be a big mistake, but it should be interesting to see how they handle that situation. Bettis might be asked to take another pay cut this year to make room for the signings that are needed. If this happens, you will probably see him every Sunday, on CBS, but from the 12-1 time slot. I'm very interested in what is going to go on here over these next few months before the draft.

You guys are right. He has basically been pretty silent on all these matters. I think he helps even when he is not getting the ball by lossening up the defense. With the chemistry he and Ben have this could be a huge loss. At the same time lets not blame this all on play calling and coaches misleading him. He has had some problems in the past with route running and some drops. To get the coach and QB's complete confidence, which in return gets you more balls and props you need to concentrate run good routes and catch the ball. That being said no doubt he has the ability to be great. Hopefully he can put it all together while in a steeler uni.

foggy - a topic we agree on.

Burress is a bum. He cried around about not getting the ball, but he had his chances. He dropped a TD pass that would've pulled the TEAM to within 7. If a 6'5" receiver can't jump higher than a 5'10" corner, then how can he be great? Great receivers make the most of every opportunity. If he catches the 2 passes that he missed, he has a big game. Granted, they weren't gimme catches, but the GREAT ones always seem to make them. He wants to be great, so let's see it on the field. It's no one's fault but his own, and I hate that type of attitude. Over the years we have watched him drop too many balls that were right in his hands for him to cop that attitude. Good riddance.
