AA Playoff seeding

Post by TRAY »

I did some research and calculating and If I am correct this should be the points for District 5/6 AA .

Team Name(Record)
Current Points
Week 9 Opponent
Total Points with Win

Tyrone(8-0)
1180
Penns Valley (2-6)
1300

Forrest Hills(7-1)
920
Somerset 0 -8
1040

Bishop McCort (6-2)
820
Cambria Heights 0-8
920

Chestnut Ridge(7-1)
810
Moshannon Valley(5-3)
940

Bedford(6-2)
780
Johnstown(4-4)
940

Marion Center(6-2)
710
Penns Manor(2-6)
810

Westmont(5-3)
650
Central (2-6)
770

Penn Cambria(5-3)
620
Richland (3-5)
730

Purchase Line(5-3)
580
Northern Cambria(2-6)
660

These are the only 9 teams with a chance to make the playoffs.

The First six are in for sure with Tyrone assured the one seed, and Forest Hills assured the two seed. (An FH loss and BM win ties them with points but FH beat BM)

A Ridge win along with a Bedford win would push both teams past McCort even if they win. This will put CR and Bedford in a tie for 3rd, with McCort falling to 5th

(Not sure of the tie-breaker between Ridge and Bedford, but 3 is a lot better than 4. The 4 seed gets to host what I am sure will be a very unhappy McCort squad)

While Marion center is in the playoffs, a loss to Penns Manor could drop them all the way to the 8th seed and a date with Tyrone (not a good thing). A win assures them of the 6th seed and a trip to CR or Bedford which ever one holds the tie-breaker.

The 7th and 8th spot is up for grabs between Westmont, Penn Cambria, and Purchase Line. Westmont and PC control their own destiny, while PL needs a win and a Westmont or PC loss to squeak into the big dance

Thanks a lot. My guess is that you won't get your Bedford at CR matchup. I would think Bedford will beat Johnstown, unless maybe they would rather lose and head to Fishertown. Chestnut Ridge should win this week, (I know that they suck and all) but even you have to believe they are the favorite.

a loss for bedford would have them at ridge then at forest hills, as opposed to a win which would have them up at tyrone in the second round...GO JTOWN!!!

Do you think the Bedford staff has thought about maybe mailing this one in against Johnstown? Seems to me that things would be a lot easier in the playoffs if they lost to J-Town. You never want to coach to lose, but in the long run a loss would be more benificial.
