Pitt vs. Penn State....keep it HERE!
Pitt vs. Penn State....keep it HERE!
Don't clutter the rest of the board with 10 topics going in the same direction always leading to the same thing. I make a post today about Penn State's OOC opponents and what they did today and it is quickly going the same direction...like all the other stinking threads.
PSU is the best
Pitt isn't
There I got it started. Have at it in here. No swearing. Keep it clean.

Re: Pitt vs. Penn State....keep it HERE!
Texas poured it on in the 2nd half last night, but they were suspect in the beginning of the game. I am beginning to think VT is as good as the top 2 teams. They will get a shot next week to show how good they are when they take on Miami.
Michigan is on a nice roll now taking down PSU, Iowa, and NWestern. They are finally looking like the team they were supposed to be in the preseason. The Ohio State game at the end of the year has picked up more significance now.
I wouldn't say Michigan is better than Penn State...sure they beat them at the end of the game but that doesn't mean they are better. The two teams were very equal all day. Play the game 10 times and each team wins 5 of them. Home field was a big one in that game.
Single games don't make teams better than others. I still think Georgia is better than Florida. I believe that Stanford is better than the 1AA team they lost to. I think Notre Dame is better than Michigan State.
ND lost to MState
ND beat Mich
Mich beat MState
One game doesn't mean someone is better all the time. PSU isn't on the same level as Texas and USC and VT right now, but those three teams are heads and shoulders the best in my mind. Bama and UCLA will lose before the season ends leaving those 3 alone as undefeateds. I wouldn't be shocked to see VT go down this weekend though.
If UCLA beats USC this year...that doesn't mean they are better because many people will argue that USC is still the better team, they just lost a game.
As for Pitt...will they become bowl eligible? Does the 1AA win count towards a bowl since they didn't have to use the Furman game last year. I am unsure of the ruling for that and was hoping someone knew.

I agree that the Michigan-PSU game isn't the deciding factor in who is better. I've seen them both play a lot this year because, as you know, we get many Big 10 games in our area. I just think Michigan is the better team that had a rough go of things early on. Also, I do believe the 1AA games count towards the number of wins to make a bowl game. I wouldn't see why else you'd schedule a 1AA team.

Actually, the rule for bowl eligibility is 1 I-AA win can be counted towards a bowl game every five years. Pitt won't make a bowl game, as they have to travel to Louisville, and the Cardinals play very well at home. Pitt also has to travel to WVU, which won't be easy to do, and is almost certainly another loss. In between those two games, they have to play Connecticut, a team that is down to their third string, but will still be tough to beat. They have to win 2 of those to get to a bowl, and I don't think they can do it.
Virginia Tech is better than Texas in my mind. And if they go undefeated in the ACC, they'll have to beat Miami (FL) and Florida State. Those are two very tough teams. If they get through there unscathed, they've earned the right to play USC. To heck with the BCS. The ONLY reason the BCS would give the nod to Texas is because Texas started at number 2 in both the polls, and had a huge advantage over VT before a single snap ever occured. Virginia Tech would have played a far tougher schedule, and when you play that tough a schedule, you deserve it. Texas schedule is a joke.
Meanwhile, Georgia is indeed still the better team than Florida, or at least will be when their starting QB, D.J. Shockley, is well again.

So you're saying since Texas scheduled one tough OOC away game, their schedule is as tough as VT's???????
