History in the Making
Is anyone else skeptical of this thing ESPN is doing where USC would supposedly beat all of these great teams of all time? I cannot see a team with such a poor defense being the best of all time. Didn't they give up 42 to Fresno State? They are a good team, but certainly not the best of all time and probably not better than USC 2004. Have they even faced a great defense? Don't great defenses usually beat great offenses? Look at LSU 2003, OSU 2002,Oklahoma 2000, Tennessee 1999, Alabama 1992, even back to Penn State 1986. In each of these cases, the team with the great defense was not given a chance and they won the game. I am not sure USC would beat any of these teams. Nobody thought OSU could stop Miami three years ago. That team had a great offense and great defense, including players like McGahee, Johnson, Winslow, Vilma, Wilfork, Williams, Taylor, all of whom are now NFL stars. So why couldn't OSU 2002 or a similar great defense stop USC's offense. I think May and Herbstreit are overhyping a team that might not even be the best this year.

I totally agree. It's ridiulous. They haven't even won the national championship, yet. Yes, they may win it. However, if they lose, then what? Does that mean this Texas team would be better than all of those teams. They're getting overhyped. Hopefully, it gets to their heads and Texas shocks everyone.
