Ridge Basketball Update for Dawg!!!

Right now we're 11-4. Next Monday we play Richland in a non-league game that could be important because a victory would give us AA points -- I think. We have Southern Fulton away on 1/31, Everett away on 2/3, Bedford away on 2/10 (chance for more AA points) and Tussey Mountain away on 2/14. Those Sideling Hill games will go a long way in determining the league champ. We're playing pretty well right now, but 5 of the last 6 games are away (that's great scheduling), so we'll have to really be mentally tough to continue our success.

Trevor is playing very well. He's showing that senior maturity that's always nice to get from a player. He plays full out (he only has one speed -- full throttle--) so sometimes he needs to be yanked for a minute or two so he doesn't run out of the gym. He's playing excellent defense. His ability to contest his opponent on the wing is especially effective.

It's a fun team to watch, with 9 players all playing quality time and contributing. As long as we realize that individual stats should take a back seat -- way back! -- to the greater good, we'lll be fine.

Haven't been able to see as many of the girls games as I'd like. Maybe somebody else can help out till I get some more info.

Nice win by the Lions last night over the mountain against Richland, 60-45 going away in a very physical game.. Again Coach Criswell used his bench well with nine players all contributing. Richland was quick and has been improving, but the Lions really took it to the basket and did a good job pressuring the Rams. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think Richland thought they might get a breather from their tough LH schedule. Well, they didn't. The Hicks took it to them. Ben Way had a nice slam on a breakaway though it looked like he might have been undercut. Luckily he wasn't hurt. Eric Claycomb had one of his stronger games, especially on the boards. The Jayvee's won also.

Tonight they host Fannett-Metal, then Friday Hyndman comes to Fishertown.

Sounds like they are gelling for a nice run into the playoffs.

Yeah, two easy wins, especially Hyndman, which has great kids but is obviously outmanned. I have a lot of respect for those kids. The Lions now are 14-4.

Two big away games this week against Southern Fulton and Everett. This week could very well decide the Sideling Hill winner,

A real big win for the Lions as they took the trip down I-70 and beat a fine Southern Fulton team 65-50. If my unofficial stats are correct, Ridge and SF are both tied in the Sideling Hill League with 2 losses.

The Lions continue the tough road contests at Everett Friday night.

Ridge lost to Everett on 2/3, beat NBC on 2/7, then beat Bedford last night away. Currently we're 17-5. We play Tussy Mountain away this coming Tuesday in a game that supposedly could put us at home for the first game of D-5AA playoffs on 2/21. Looks like we'll play TM again, either home or away, depending upon Tuesday's result and perhaps another variable or two.
