Absolutely Pathetic
Absolutely Pathetic
How sad and pathetic can it get? With all the wonderful tradition of high school wrestling in the state of Pennsylvania, perhaps only matched by the state of Iowa, the University of Pittsburgh, which receives an annual appropriation from the state legislature, cannot field a decent wrestling team worthy of D1 status.
Let's recap this season of woe.

I mean, FOR THE LOVE OF ALL MIGHTY?!?!?!?!? WHO GETS BEATEN BY CLEVELAND STATE?????? And a loss to a Big Ten team like Michigan State (who PSU beat like an ugly crow only a week ago) and The Ohio State University??!?!!? Perhaps this shows the dominance of the Big Ten in wrestling????
Typical of Pitt athletics however....a horrible loss to WVU.
I wonder what the average attendence is at these Pitt matches????
FOR SHAME!!!! Especially given the far greater tradition of wrestling in Pennsylvania (far more than basketball).
Furthermore, WHY WILL PITT NOT WRESTLE PENN STATE????
AND I BET PITT wrestlers are ALL CRIMINALS!!!!
Can Pitt ever field a decent wrestling team??? I guess they have to pin faster.

Name me one wrestler off Penn State's wrestling team without looking it up. You probably have no idea. I can see why no one gets on this site anymore.

Re: Absolutely Pathetic
Didn't realize that Pitt wrestling was in such dire straits. But since I've always found college wrestling quite BOOOOR.....RINGGGGG, just never paid attention to it. My question is, should wrestling be considered a "team" sport anyway. I mean, isn't it like track, where you have INDIVIDUAL competitions, which somehow are used to come up with a TEAM total???? Guess it's like bowling. To be considered a real team sport, shouldn't all the players be dependant on each other during the competition? You know like hockey, soccer, football. In wrestling, members on each team CANNOT help one another during their competition. Heck, in college wrestling, you can have, out of 10 matches, 6 members of one team win and have the team STILL LOSE!!!!! ( six 3 point decisions vs 4 pins). How does that happen in a TEAM sport??? Take PSU basketball for example. You have 5 guys running around all at the same time with the coach on the sidelines trying to get them to work TOGETHER. This is teamwork. This makes a team. Not individuals battling it out as you see in wrestling, track, or bowling. Yet they keep trying to make it a TEAM sport. I guess because of this, Pitt wrestling as a team means nothing. And what about forfeits??? Can you play basketball with only 4 guys??? Yet wrestling teams can compete with less than a full squad, it happens all the time. So you see, wrestling as a team sport in college just doesn't cut it. So if Pitt's team is no good, so what???

Doesn't the previous guy's outcome affect your tenacity?

Re: Absolutely Pathetic
If it does, you're in trouble. And what if there is a forfeit before your match? Do you just stand around when it's your turn?

Debate over whether its a "team sport" all you want.
With the rich tradition of high school wrestling in PA you would think Pitt could recruit some decent wrestlers though??? I mean, who gets beaten by Cleveland State? And why won't Pitt wrestle Penn State???

Re: Absolutely Pathetic
First of all, I know absolutely NOTHING about Pitt wrestling. Don't know the wrestlers. Don't know who the coach is. Don't know their schedule. Don't know their record. Unlike some PSU fans who conveniently LIKE another college basketball team, I simply don't know anything about Pitt wrestling. Sorry. What I do know is, that the so-called "rich tradition of Pennsylvania wrestling" was just dropped by Slippery Rock University. BUT THEY KEPT BASKETBALL!!!!! So much for that rich tradition in the world of sports. By the way, It's "for the love of ALMIGHTY", not All Mighty. Unless you meant for the love of everyone who is mighty.

I don't think I was talking to you, Ham. I was talking to frostlion, whom made the post. I think anyone from this area knows Strayer wrestles for PSU. Scott will be there next year. That's not hard to figure out. However, I'm sure frost didn't know it, though.
