Third Law Broken
Theories and laws shattered. Wonder what else the scientific community doesn't know but is put forth as fact?
I found it interesting. Lots to be discovered in this world no matter how much we think we know.

Re: Third Law Broken
I highly doubt it "goes against" Newton's third law. I would really like to see a quote from a scientist on that one. The reaction might appear to do such a thing, but Newton's Laws are laws. I would bet everything I own that they just haven't figured out how the third law factors in yet.

Re: Third Law Broken
Newton's laws are not laws. They are his understanding of what occurs according to the information he had available at the time. They are subject to change or being disproved.
This was in a highly unnatural setting and something that Newton may not have considered and certainly didn't have the technology to try it.
I'm sure the people who are publishing this in Science are not scientists. Probably just two guys in a garage playing around with molecules. (Actually I think it's Hollywood and TAE working secretly together in the remains of Fort Bedford).
Now please give me everything you own. Can I fit it all in the trunk of my car?

Re: Third Law Broken
Forget that mystery. Try this one. Three salesmen are traveling together and stop at a hotel for the night. They ask the guy at the desk how much a room would be. The guy says 30 dollars. Each of the salesmen gives the desk clerk $10 dollars and they go upstairs to their room. After they leave, the desk clerk realizes that he made a mistake and the room was only $25, so he gives the bellboy five 1 dollar bills and tells him to return this money to the salesmen. The bellboy goes upstairs. Realizing that there are 3 guys in the room, he decides to keep $2 for himself and gives each salesman $1. So, therefore each salesman ONLY paid $9 apiece for the room, and the bellboy has $2. This equals $29. Where is the missing dollar???

Re: Third Law Broken
Salesmen each paid $9 ($27 total) Hotel got $25. Bellhop got $2 ($27 total). $3 returned to salesmen makes the total $30.00.
Don't add in the $2 twice.

Re: Third Law Broken
BUT when all is said and done: Each of the 3 salesmen paid $9 each, and the Bellboy has $2. That comes to $29, when they started out with $30. Again, where is the missing dollar???

Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.
Re: Third Law Broken
Misdirection or not, we three salesmen WANT our $30 worth. We got $27 of it ($9 x 3). The bellboy should give us our $2 back. And SOMEBODY still owes us a buck!!!!!! Who's going to give it to us????????

Re: Third Law Broken
Just talked to the Bellboy. He returned the $2 to the salesmen. Now each paid $9 for the room, and the bellboy's $2 makes $29. That still leaves $1 missing from the original $30. Donde es?????
