i believe it is May 5th. The top performers will be with the vaulters. Its great we'll get to watch them two duke it out 4 more times! maybe even 5 if they qualify for states.

Re: West Central Coaches
The 'buzz' at the meet was how well District 5 athletes were doing. With about 1/4 of the schools that 6-AA has District 5 took a healthy portion of the medals and was very dominant (considering they only have 25% of the schools that 6 has) in the Long/Triple Jumps and some other events also.
The other question that I'm curious how others feel about. Why are the three prep schools (Bowling Brook, Kiski, Mercersburg Acad.) allowed to compete in the AA division? These schools are Prep schools, non-PIAA members, and allow post h.s. graduates to attend.
Shouldn't they be in AAA where they need more teams anyway?
Looks like Podlesnik had a good day. Winning and setting the school record in the mile with a 4.23 and also winning the 800 meters with a 1.58. Can he win the state in the mile???
On pure speculation on what won the mile last year and Podlesnik's true 1600 time; I am not sure we have seen it. I would say yes he could win the 1600. I believe a low 4:20 won last year. Again a lot can change from year to year and there could very well be a number of mid teen runners to challenge for the title but he has a shot. Another question will be his ability to run competitive 800 times at the state level after running a hard 1600. Will he forgo the 800 to go for the mile or does he stand a better shot at placing higher in the 800? I don't believe he can run the 1600 and turn around and run the 800 at states and place top three. But then again he appears to be an amazing runner. We will know soon.

I had also wondered about the prep schools and that was before i realized that they allowed graduates to run. This is a great meet with great competition but no area team will ever again be able to compete for the title with teams like that there. hopefully enough people voice their concerns to the meet administration and they reconsider their move. when a big meet dominant team like westmont loses by 20 points, theres got to be a problem. it was tough enough with Elk County (who im sure also doesnt recruit) being there and always being a force.
