Funny thing is, Israel could beat that whole lot of bums without the USA.
Nice to see France has denounced the whole thing. I sure didn't see that one coming.

Re: israel and america vs. world
Israel could never beat all of them without the US support we give them. That is a country we continue to help despite a hundred backhands they've given us over the years. I'm sick and tired of standing up for these people simply b/c it's good politics to have an ally in the Middle East. it's time Israel starts reaping what they sow. Let those people kill eachother. I know it's harsh, but I dont care about one life in the Middle East that hold a paper saying they're an American citizen.

it's because they are THE only democracy in the middle east. and their air force is the most potent air force on the planet period. on it's own accord. plus when our military elite needs training. We look to israel. So AE I think you are wrong in your opinion on this one, usually you are insightful as much as you are inflammatory. We need to stand behind israel's right to exist.

Re: israel and america vs. world
Let me tell you exactly what Israel did after WW2. They literally... LITERALLY... went house to house in the area which is now Israel, where Palestinians lived, and seriously threw people out of their houses. Then Israelies moved in. That is why there are tent cities on the outskirts of Jerusalem, b/c the Palestinians wanted to stay there, and vowed to get their homes back.
Israel was set up by the Allies after WW2 as a homeland for the Jews who were persecuted during the Holocaust. We, the Allies, paid no heed to the fact that people were ALREADY LIVING IN THE AREA, much like we did with the Indians. We cut out boundaries in an area that was already populated in the Middle East. We went way out of our way to help the future Israelies, and created them an entire nation. We set up Tel Aviv as the capital for them. Why? Because many religions have ties to the city of Jerusalem and look upon the city as the "holy land". Jerusalem was set up to be an international city where all religions could go and pray and have a jolly old time on their pigrimmages. What did Israel do? They immediately moved the capitol from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, and barricaded the city so no other religions could go there!!!! What did the US do? Not a dang thing. We backed Israel in their little "settlement" of a populated area, and then turned the other cheek when they barricaded an international city. Then, because all the Arabs in the area hate the people who just threw them out of their houses, the United States started giving Israel all kinds of military support, in the form of actually planes, tanks, and munitions.
We know from history that the peoples of the Middle East, who have roughly the same religious beliefs, are not all on the same page. There is not just one big group of "Arabs". Even in the time of Saladin, whom I encourage you all to read up on, there were alliances both easy and uneasy amongst the Arab peoples. But, like in most cases with humanity, you still have a bond with them, despite your slight differences. Because of the US support of Israel, who have generated enormous atrocities against the local yokels (remember, Israel is technological b/c of us, compared to the poor people in the area) those people have come to hate us as well. Let me ask you this... now, everyone reading this has at one time or another dealt with this kid of situation: Let's say your cousin or your brother gets into a scuffle with someone else. That "someone else" has the backing of an older bruiser that lives across town, that can show up at any moment, which means your cousin's little situation with this other kid is a no-win situation. He's gonna get beat up, even if he beats the kid up who he has the beef with. See what I am getting at? Everything in this world has its roots on a elementry school playground.
So then let me ask you this... let's say that tonight, someone breaks into your house, steals everything you own, but tells you you are allowed to stay in your room. You are not allowed any internet access, any books, nothing you previously owned. All food and water that you get, is handled by the person who just took over your house. How would you like it? That is exactly what the Israelies did, and do, to the Palestinians.
Needless to say, it did not take long for the Israelies to get themselves involved in a war, with a coalition of Arab countries in the area. They attacked Israel. What did the US do? Backed Israel 100%. Now, tell me if you think this caused any animosity between the Arab states and the United States. They cant beat Israel, no matter what Israel does to them, because we'll keep backing them up. So even if YOU get involved, and you get your brother and your other cousins to go after the kid who beat up your little cousin, the thug across town is going to roll in your neighborhood with a bunch of guns and end it REAL quick. There is a reason why those people over there hate us so bad. And it is NOT because we have High Definition televisions. It is because we routinely stick our noses in their business.
I for one am sick and tired of defending these people and their actions, espoecially when they turn right around and slap us in the face. This is not a scuffle over "Israel's right to exist". This little war right now is over what? 3 captured Israeli troops.
There is no shortage of websites that talk about the atrocities the Israelies have done to Arabs. Google it. Here's one by a former CIA analyst:
[web]http://www.rense.com/general72/sinae.htm[/web]
I'm sick and tired of standing up for these people just b/c it is benefical, politically, to have an ally over there. Let them fight their own battles!!!

Israel did not happen upon their homeland as you suppose. Israel captured this territory during a war that was waged against them. not a payback for the holocaust. do you not know history or do you just take the palestinian side because you lack understanding?

Hey, maybe I did have a Palestinian professor for a Mid-East Conflict class hahaha. The guy was blind, he didnt SEE anything! Actually, though, he wasn't the one who said about them going house to house. There's no shortage of sites stating Israeli atrocities.
In 1947, following increasing levels of violence together with unsuccessful efforts to reconcile the Jewish and Arab populations, the British government decided to withdraw from the Palestine Mandate. The UN General Assembly approved the 1947 UN Partition Plan dividing the territory into two states, with the Jewish area consisting of roughly 55% of the land, and the Arab area roughly 45%. Jerusalem was planned to be an international region administered by the UN to avoid conflict over its status.
I'm sure both side's views are jaded, but I'm not changing my opinion on backing one or the other. Like I always say, you dont scream about your neighbor's yard if YOURS need cut.

I read a post on the site Lemmy pasted about what does bombing Lebanon have to do with protecting Israel. For decades, Hezbollah (a terrorist organization funded by Iran) has been operating in southern Lebanon, bordering northern Israel, with total autonomy.
The images are certainly horrific. There isn't a sane person around that wants to see an innocent child mutilated like that. But I ask you Lemmy to now go back and find the images of the restaurant bombings, the bus bombings and the innocent Israeli children mutilated by suicide bombers. You won't do it because it doesn't fit your political ideology.
What is Israel to do? They sit surrounded by countries that hate them and want them exterminated. Do those Israeli children not have a right to exist either? When terrorist can invade their country and kidnap soldiers, blow up restaurants and buses, should they not try to defend themselves?
You showed pictures of Israeli girls writing messages on artillery shells. Why not find some pictures of Palestinian children shown with toy bomb vests?
Many of you liberals advocated the war in Afghanistan. Don't you think there were images similar there. Why is this different? It's because it's Israel.
I'm not going to sit here and claim I know or completely understand the situation on the ground over there. However, I will say this. If a country bordering us was unable to reign in terrorists that set up camp 5 miles from our cities/towns, and those terrorists started to attack our civilians, I for one would not be against our military invading that country to wipe out that threat.
And like a poster on that site said - Israel forewarned the Lebanese people in the area they were coming. Don't you think if you knew what was coming, you would get your family to safety? When was the last time Hamas or Hezbollah forewarned the Israeli's they were about to unleash a suicide bomber?
