What is the scoop? Is he taking a job somewhere else? Or did the pressures of the Bedford community finally get to him?

Coach Swaim resigned for personal reasons..He said hes staying in the area and still being the middle school gym teacher..swaim was a good coach and a great guy and I wish him the best of luck with whatever he decides to do...now some rumored canidates have been..steele from tussey mountain...jesse topper...and the famous bill creps..thats just what the buzz was around the bedford halls today I dont really know if they are actual canidates.

Bill Creps!! Good, then bedford can return to the 4 point stance, and blocking with their forarms...

Coach steele would be an excellent choice. Topper would be better than Carrol if there looking for an in-house option

Can someone with knowledge about Bedford football share your thoughts insights as to what the future might hold for Bedford football? What about next year? How has the Jr high been the last 2 or 3 years? How is the 7th grade program? What could the future hold for Bedford football?

I don't see a ton of talent coming up through the ranks. If Bedford doesn't go out and find the right coach they will be down for quite some time. But this is HS football. The right hire can get them back on track quickly. Good coaching in my opinion can make a 2-8 or 3-7 team 5-5 or 6-4. A 7-3 or 8-2 team undefeated. But I don't think Bedford has any desire among the administration to do much on behalf of the athletic programs. Just look at all the turnover in recent years at the coaching positions. I don't really see anyone inside the program currently wanting or being ready for this position. Obviously Max Shoemaker is out of the question it seems. He would be my choice.

Other names:

1) Kyle Kane
2) Bob Shank
Are both previous Bedford assistants I feel would be best qualified.

I don't know who else in the area might be interested. There may be some Assistants or even head coaches in the laurel highlands that throw their hat in there.

Rumor has it that ex alumni Tom Rogish is looking for a job in the Bedford area. Seems he should have the credenials to get a look in Bedford. He was an assistant at IUP, and now at Sheppard college.
Complete football program needs a look from the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade combined flag football program to the recycling of coaches headed by one Bill Creps. I think a coach needs to get the kids started on the right foot when they are young.
No kid in Bedford football program gets to put on a pad till they get in Jr High School. Flag program is a joke with 3rd graders competing against 6th graders. I have a feeling we are loosing about 25% or more of the kids because they don't get to play or get beat to death against kids 4 years older than themselves.
